New Charter Technologies is a family of brands made up of the highest-performing Managed Service Providers (MSPs) across North America. With 20+ brands in the New Charter platform and more being consistently added, we can confidently say we are creating a caliber of business the IT industry hasn’t yet seen.

How we got started

2018

The idea of New Charter Technologies was born in February of 2018. Mitch Morgan, CEO of New Charter, set out to identify the financial investment partner that would align to the vision and propel the idea into a reality. In August, Oval Partners became the identified equity firm, establishing the transactional structure of the organization. Oval proved to be the perfect partner based on their experience in the market, in particular the unique Equity Partnership Model that Oval has perfected.

Four foundational partnership discussions were in motion, setting the stage for fast-growth years to follow.

2019

PennComp, located in Houston, Texas, was the first company to come on-board in September of 2019. Scott Young, CEO of PennComp, and Mitch Morgan aligned greatly on vision and values, setting the standard for what the New Charter Partner Ecosystem represents.

2020

New Charter adds three additional Partners to the team, rounding out the four original Founders. ActiveCo (Vancouver, Canada), Apex (Redding, California), and DCG (Los Angeles, California) join in January and March of 2020. The original Founders signify the trust and vision of New Charter.

Following the original Founders, New Charter proudly adds The Tech Group (South Burlington, Vermont), Greystone Technology (Denver, Colorado), Olmec Systems (Denville, New Jersey), and Stronghold Data (Joplin, MO), creating a roster of 8 best in class companies.

2021

Braver Technology, located in Taunton, MA joins the team in January of 2021. New Charter Technologies adds four additional partners to the team by the end of 2021. Kinetix (San Francisco, CA), ADNET Technologies (Rocky Hill, CT), I.T. Responsive (Santa Ana, CA), and CommTech (Metairie, LA). The New Charter Corporate structure is growing alongside the Partner Ecosystem.

2022

Five additional partners join the New Charter Technologies Equity Partnership by August, 2022. Exbabylon Professional IT Solutions (Newport, WA), MCA Technology Solutions (Chattanooga, TN), Systems Solutions (Paducah, KY), Strategic Solutions (Glen Allen, VA), and NetTech (Monroe, LA). New Charter plans on adding a handful of additional Partners through the balance of the year.

Mitch Morgan

With a career legacy that includes Commercial Banker, Entrepreneur, Corporate Executive, and Industry Consultant, Mitch’s background suits him to build New Charter Technologies as its CEO. Through his experiences he has crafted a vision for an Operating Model for New Charter. This unique equity partnership enables business owners to continue their entrepreneurial focus on a larger stage, and the companies they operate to achieve an even higher level of success together as part of New Charter.

Mitch has a long track record of successfully growing IT services businesses. Prior to founding New Charter, he ran a consultancy focused on MSP business improvement, and was also responsible for leading 21 MSP acquisitions. Previously, he was a Vice President at IKON, running a $500M division responsible for over 2,000 employees in technology services. He also founded and grew his own IT services business from startup to 75 employees before its successful acquisition. Additionally, Mitch was General Manager of Heartland Marketplace for IKON, with $100M P&L, 110 sales reps across four states. Mitch started his career as a commercial banker.

Bryan Bodhaine

Bryan Bodhaine, joined New Charter in 2021. He began his career in public accounting with Deloitte & Touche, and has since held executive-level finance and operational roles with public and private companies in a variety of industries.

He has a proven track record of building and managing successful accounting teams, and has been on the buy and sell side of more than 20 acquisitions with strategic and private equity buyers, ranging from $1M to $320M.

Bryan holds a degree in Business Economics and Accounting from UC Santa Barbara, and is a CPA (inactive) in the State of Colorado.

Director of Marketing Process, New Charter Technologies

Nora Erspamer

Nora Erspamer is the Director of Digital Marketing at New Charter Technologies. She is an experienced Marketer and Sales Strategist with a history of working in the technology and SaaS industries. She is skilled in sales enablement, strategic campaign development, lead generation, marketing automation, and integrated inbound/outbound content marketing programs. Prior to joining New Charter, Nora was a Marketing and Sales Strategist at Forecast5 Analytics. She spent six years growing the marketing team and implementing HubSpot company-wide.

Nora is passionate about working with the Operating Companies and creating a Marketing team that is highly impactful, integrated, and knowledgeable on marketing best practices. Our HubSpot enterprise platform coupled with infrastructure, resources, and people development will allow for growth and scalability across the entire organization.

Nora holds an M.B.A and a B.A in Marketing and Small Business Entrepreneurship from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.

Nora is a marathon runner and lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband and pup.

Vice President, People, New Charter Technologies

Sarah Bernhardt

Sarah Bernhardt is the Vice President of People at New Charter Technologies. She has worked in Human Resources across a variety of industries over the past 20 years, most recently in the MSP space.

Throughout her career, Sarah has supported significant merger, acquisition, and disposition activities, has successfully partnered with companies exiting PEOs, and has also supported three successful decertification elections.

Sarah spent her early career in the multifamily property management space, where she supported clients who built and managed properties, and handled investments. After that she worked in the construction industry for a few years before returning to professional services in outsourced IT. Sarah has a passion for people, and for creating workplaces that keep them interested, engaged, and supported.

Sarah attended the Metropolitan State University of Denver where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Management and holds a current Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from HRCI.

Jake Mizrahi - Managing Director & Co-founder

Jake Mizrahi

Jake Mizrahi is a Managing Director and Co-Founder of Oval Partners. He has worked in the Private Equity Industry for over 20 years and has extensive experience across transaction types, including buyouts, build-ups, corporate carve-outs, take privates, equity investments and debt financings. He focuses on making investments in information services, software, tech enabled services, and business and financial services. Jake has had a significant amount of success investing in and partnering with entrepreneurs to help them scale their companies by making acquisitions, generating organic growth, and developing strategic partnerships. His approach is to work with management teams to help them develop long term strategies to dramatically grow and transform their businesses. Prior to founding Oval Partners in 2015, Jake was a Managing Director at Golden Gate Capital, which he joined in 2003. Previously Jake was a founding executive of iPhrase Technologies, which was acquired by IBM. Early in his career, he was also an investment professional at Bain Capital and a management consultant at Bain & Company.

He holds an M.B.A. from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a B.S. in Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Phi Beta Kappa).

John Knoll - Managing Director & Co-founder

John Knoll

John Knoll is a Managing Director and Co-Founder of Oval Partners with over twenty years of history in Private Equity. His industry experience spans numerous end markets including software, electronics, IT, financial and business services, high mix manufacturing, and industrial technology. Within these markets, he has executed a wide range of transaction sizes and types, including founder exits and recapitalizations, take privates, corporate carve-outs, and asset purchases under bankruptcy reorganization. These toehold transactions often led to additional tuck-in acquisitions as part of a buy and build strategy to consolidate niche, fragmented end markets. Prior to Oval’s formation, John spent fourteen years at Golden Gate Capital (GGC) starting with the firm’s formation in 2000. At GGC, John invested in a variety of end markets across the GDP before leading the tech hardware and electronics vertical. His career started as a management consultant for four years with Bain & Company in the San Francisco and Stockholm offices.

He holds an M.B.A from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a B.S. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University.

Kyle Robertson

Kyle Robertson is a Principal at Oval Partners. Prior to joining Oval Partners in 2016, Kyle spent three years at TSG Consumer Partners, a San Francisco-based private equity firm specializing in branded consumer and retail investments. Prior to TSG, Kyle worked in the investment banking division of J.P. Morgan in New York City. He holds an M.B.A. from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a B.B.A. in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin.

Dan Ruhl

Dan Ruhl is a Partner at Oval Partners. He has worked in the Private Equity Industry for over 20 years and has extensive experience across transaction types, including buyouts, build-ups, corporate carve-outs, equity investments and debt financings. In his private equity and investment banking career Dan has specialized in working on transactions directly with business owners.

Prior to joining Oval Partners in 2016, Dan was the President of Clover Technologies, Inc. During Dan’s tenure at Clover, the company grew more than 20 fold and acquired over 30 companies. That experience in building and consolidating global businesses will be used to help Oval complete and integrate portfolio add-on acquisitions. Dan is actively engaged in executing on add-on acquisitions for FlexPrint, an Oval Partners portfolio company.

He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a B.S. in Finance from Northern Illinois University.

Dan Escovitz - Director, Business Development

Dan Escovitz

Dan Escovitz is the Director of Business Development at Oval Partners, where he leads the origination and evaluation of new investment partnerships. He also supports Oval Partners companies in sourcing and executing add-on acquisitions. Dan has over a decade of experience working with entrepreneurs to support growth financings, strategic acquisitions and owner liquidity, and he has furthered these efforts at various investment firms, including Vector Capital, AMD Ventures and ABS Capital Partners.

He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a B.S. in Finance & Accounting and a B.A. in Molecular Biology, both from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
